Kossiakoff Loft
Chicago, Illinois

This historic loft space was wide open and very rustic. It needed a room that could be closed off from the rest of the space. The solution was to build an upstairs. A second floor was built in, creating a master bedroom, large walk-in closet, guest bedroom, office area and powder room. Downstairs, a new limestone kitchen island was installed, as well as some large closets and shelving. Improved lighting is now a key feature, as well as optimum air flow. Translucent sliding screens were added throughout. Local artists were hired to complement the décor with hand-crafted handrails and oil paintings. It is now a serene and sophisticated yet comfortable space, with plenty of extra room.
